Of hemlocks and mountains

Bethany Bella

I want to learn
I yearn
for the great unknown as wide and free
as the depths of the sea

See,
I used to long for the cerulean sea

Glittering in the

twilight be

But now my heart
sings for
anthems and rings
of hemlocks and mountains

and pine-cone things

The richness of scent

the quiet seclude
the echo of earthiness

inspires the mood

Of soft underfoot

the crunchy surprise

the color of forest

reflected in my eyes

How far I could sail
if given the chance
across the watery view
But for now I resign
to peace of mind
preferring the green to the blue
